We keep being told that children will need to learn completely different skills from the ones being taught now.
The world, supposedly, will look completely different ever so soon.
Meanwhile, many of our problems come from an ignorance of basics.
There’s a snowstorm, the electric grid goes down, people poison themselves heating with wood – if they even have fireplaces or wood stoves in their homes anymore.
We celebrate the power of humanity while people kill themselves trying to start the barbecue season – in their apartments. (Yep, that happened.)
Some skills remain.
Even if we ventured to Mars and into space, we’d need to stay warm. And we’d probably burn things.
So, eternal skill: Learn to handle fire.
